Married Life, pregnancy

The first Trimester

It’s been so long since I posted, life has been crazy busy and pregnancy doesn’t help!

So here’s the nitty gritty of my experience with being pregnant and the first trimester.

As you know from my blog post YES+ I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks. For the majority of the first trimester I felt pretty great. Certain smells made me feel queasy but no throwing up yet. Everyone kept telling me how tired I’d be, and that wasn’t bad either, I was my regular self working like a fene visiting my friends in Yellowknife and making money. I left Yellowknife at week 8 and had my first doctors appointment at home. Life was good. My only compliant was extremely sore boobs; then week 10 came……

🎵Burning Down the House…..or yard

More of what’s been going on in the last month……..#myhusbandisanidiot

On Monday it was beautiful outside! So as one does when adulting, we did a Spring clean up in the yard. My husband collected all the brush that was cut down before winter and burned it, and I picked up dog poop and garbage that blew in from those windy winter days.

I was extremely jealous as he was enjoying a few Budweiser’s while doing his job and being knocked up prohibits me from doing the same. There is something so satisfying about having a beer while doing yard work, water is not comparable! 🙄

Once I was done my job I asked my husband to work on the deck as the brush was pretty much all burnt and he was going around with a stick and a cloth light on fire trying to burn our grass. I asked him why he was doing this and he said “to make our grass greener, it’s called a control burn.” I told him it was probably not his best idea and that he should be doing something more productive. Needless to say he kept going. Continue reading “🎵Burning Down the House…..or yard”

Toilet Training the 🐈

I haven’t written in awhile as we’ve had a lot going on since I got home from my workcation in Yellowknife. One thing imparticular that I’ve been working on is toilet training the cats.
After finding out I was pregnant I discussed with my husband the trainers for toilet training your cat. I explained to him about how I’m technically not supposed to be dealing with the kitty litter due to the parasite in their poop and the risk it could cause to our growing fetus. We looked at a couple different ones and decided to go with the CitiKitty Toilet training kit.

Married Life, trying to conceive

YES+

After almost two years of trying to conceive it finally happened.

I’ve used the app called Flo to track my cycles for about a year now, according to the app which is typically pretty accurate for my cycle, I was supposed to start my period on March 17th. I was dreading it for multiple reasons:

  1. No-one wants their period to come when trying to conceive, or really at any time.
  2. It’s St. Paddy’s Day!!!
  3. And the big one, I was Day Bartender on a Saturday St. Paddy’s, therefore the bar was going to be slammed, which I love because bring on the tips but to start my period during that time would be disastrous!

Really Cool Things!

Long John Jamboree

Hey Guys, as I mentioned I’m in Yellowknife right now and last weekend I attended the Long John Jamboree Festival.

LJJ is a winter festival on the ice that’s about embracing your long johns because in Canada’s Great White North it is very cold, last week ESPECIALLY at -37 Celsius most of the weekend. So what better way to deal with the cold than to say fuck it, get dressed up and go to a winter carnival! Continue reading “Long John Jamboree”

Dog on the Roam

Aella aka Lala (my golden retriever) loved when we moved to Newfoundland, we went from having 0.5 of an acre to 3 acres of property and at first, she barely left the yard. Over time though she started to visit the neighbors. She would do her rounds every day a couple times a day, she looked both ways before crossing the street, and everyone loved her visits. They loved her visits so much that all the neighbors started saving their scraps to give her as a treat. Within three months she had gained 1/3 of her body weight. She also developed a couple bad habits, like sitting on peoples step barking at their front door for treats…..not a huge deal but not very neighborly at 6 a.m. I told my husband we need to build a fence because I couldn’t have everyone feeding her (I did ask people not to feed her but some still did or they just throw their scraps out in the woods for the animals and she would find it), and we couldn’t have her barking at peoples houses at 6 a.m. He said no fence, and got a long rope and tied it to the step. This worked okay for a few months until we built our new deck. The new deck was a lot bigger and it’s high off the ground, therefore, it has a ton of supporting beams. Lala is really smart for some things, and not for others, getting stuck/tangled up is one of these others. Every time I’d let her out within a few minutes she would be barking and wrapped around the same post three times, or sometimes multiple posts at once, I’d untangle her and within 5 minutes she’d be stuck again. After a few weeks of this, I gave up. I started only letting her out when I’d be outside with her to make sure she didn’t leave the yard. Then the most embarrassing thing happened……..
